JUNE / JULY REPORT
June just sort of melted into July and now it is nearly the end of July. Time has been moving so quickly. We looked at the calendar and we have only 3 more weeks and we'll be home.
Once the Teen Missions Adult Siberia team left (June 3), Eivind knew he had only a month left to get things ready for the camp. He set to work on finishing the addition to make it secure, trimmed out all the windows, installed another door, built a stairway to the second floor, and lots of odds and ends. He worked 6 days a week, 10 hours a day. The weather turned much hotter, getting into the high 80s and low 90s. YES, it can actually get HOT in Siberia.
Towards the end of June brought hundreds of teenagers from all over the states and Canada to the LORD's Boot Camp at Merritt Island, Florida (www.teenmissions.org) to begin their training. The 10 Siberia team members met and soon were working like as one. July 8 we welcomed Steve Petersen, Teen Missions staff to settle in and get things ready to meet the team.
July 3, I fell and broke my foot, just a minor thing and I kept working but the bruising and swelling on my other leg began to be a worry. So I decided to return to TN and have it checked out. What a disappointment that I would not meet the team until later. But the LORD let me get a glimpse of the team before anyone... as the team was walking up the ramp into the terminal, I saw each team member, including my nephew Nathan, from the holding area as I would soon board the plane they arrived on!
I had things checked out and returned to Krasnaya Niva, July 18. I move much slower but that doesn't stop me from doing the LORD's work.
Boot Camp began July 11 with the arrival of Russian leaders, 2 volunteers and 18 team members. There were also 4 volunteers cooks. What a wonderful blessing and help they have been. God has been to good to have sent excellent leaders and volunteers. What a difference here this year.
Commissioning was July 20 and the 2 Russian teams left the next morning. Pray for them as they do their projects. One team is an evangelism team in Shadrinsk and the other is a bike team to Kirova, 60-70 kilometers away. From there they will bike out into other villages to evangelize. The American team is staying at the camp and helping to build a new facility for showers and toilets!! YAH!!
The American Team has arrived!
